General Facts

The ZZ Plant is native to Eastern Africa, particularly regions of Kenya and Tanzania. Its botanical name, Zamioculcas zamiifolia, reflects its resemblance to plants in the Zamia genus and its foliage's resemblance to that of cycads.

Scientific Name

Zamioculcas zamiifolia

Care Instructions

Light: ZZ Plants tolerate low light conditions but prefer bright, indirect light for optimal growth. They can even adapt to fluorescent lighting, making them suitable for office environments.
Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. ZZ Plants are drought-tolerant and prone to root rot if overwatered. Err on the side of underwatering rather than overwatering.

Preferred Spot

Place the ZZ Plant in a location with bright, indirect light, such as near a north or east-facing window. It can also thrive in low light conditions, but growth may be slower. Avoid exposing ZZ Plants to direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
